§ Role

Design of two structural steel boom brackets for the boom mast assembly. Parametric CAD modelling, structural validation, and production-ready drawing package.

§ Outputs
  • Parametric SolidWorks models, both brackets
  • Structural validation against worst-case rigging loads
  • Production-ready drawing package, GA + detail
  • Material specification, structural steel
  • Revision-controlled archive
§ Case Note

Two Oceans Marine Manufacturing engaged RKT for the design of two structural steel brackets that form part of the boom mast assembly on a custom superyacht build. The brief was specific: two brackets, full structural responsibility, drawings ready for the fabricator on a tight timeline.

Engineering brief

The brackets carry combined tension and compression loads from the boom under sail, cycling through a wide spectrum of low-load and intermittent high-load events over the vessel’s service life. We modelled both brackets parametrically in SolidWorks, validated them against worst-case rigging load combinations, and iterated the internal geometry until stress margins were comfortable across the full envelope.

Delivery

The full drawing package was delivered with revision history, material specifications, and dimensioned details ready for the workshop. Both brackets fabricated and fitted without rework on first installation.
