This engagement is what RKT looks like at full vertical reach. The brief came through Phoenix Marine Manufacturing for an Xquisite Yachts build, and rather than splitting the work across multiple suppliers, the client wanted design, CAM programming, CNC cutting, and finishing all delivered as a single package.
Design brief
A matched timber interior package anchored by a chart table with an inlaid world map, complemented by serving trays carrying the same cartographic motif. Material selected for tonal warmth and grain consistency, with darker veneer inlay for the map outlines. Finish: hand-rubbed satin lacquer.
CAM and CNC
Every piece was programmed in-house. The map inlays were cut with a 0.8 mm single-flute bit at reduced feed rates, any faster and the fibres tore, any slower and we got burn marks. The profiles were finished on a 4th-axis setup with compensation for the stock’s natural deflection at the far reaches of the cut.
Finishing and delivery
Hand-finishing followed the tooling work, lacquer build-coats with intermediate flatting, and a final hand-rubbed satin pass. Delivered pre-finished and ready to install. Post-installation feedback: zero fitment issues, no on-site adjustment.
